OVERTIME & MINI GAMES

 

NO OVERTIME WILL BE PLAYED IN ROUND ROBIN. 

 

GOLDBROOM TIE BREAKING RULES AFTER ROUND ROBIN COMPLETION 

 

PROCEDURE 1 – STANDINGS (SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

The team that has the best points based on 2 points for a win; 1 point for a tie; 0 points for a loss. 

 

PROCEDURE 2 – TWO TEAMS TIED (SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

If two teams are tied, the record against each other shall determine the standings. 

 

PROCEDURE 3 – THREE TEAMS TIED (SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

If three or more teams are tied in points after the round robin, MINI GAMES will decide the final positions of these teams in the round robin. If no teams will be eliminated from the tournament see PROCEDURE 5 for tie breaking method. 

 

PROCEDURE 4 – DETERMINING THE MINI GAME BYE (SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

(A) The team with the best +/- in the games between teams implicated in the tie shall get the bye. 

(B) If equality remains, the team with the best +/- against the team not involved in the tie in the highest position shall get the bye. 

(C) If equality remains, the team with the best +/- record against the next highest team not involved in the tie, and down the line until the bye is determined. 

(D) If the decision is not realized after the above procedures have been exhausted a coin flip determines the bye, the proceed back to mini games format. 

 

PROCEDURE 5 – NO TEAMS ELIMINATED 9SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

Mini games shall not be considered in the event of a three-way tie when no team is eliminated from further ply after the round robin. The above noted +/- system will be implemented to place the advancing teams. 

 

 

MINI GAMES (SEE SBA RULE BOOK) 

Two five minute periods followed by a regulation overtime. The team with the bye plays the second game versus the winner of the first mini game. 

 

MINI GAME RULES: 

1st and 2nd period will be played 5 on 5 with a goalie. 

OVERTIME: Will be played 4 on 4 NO goalie sudden death. 

 

PLAYOFF OVERTIME FORMAT: (ALL PERIODS SUDDEN DEATH FORMAT) 

1ST OVERTIME – One 10-minute period 3 on 3 with goalie. 

2nd OVERTIME – (If needed) one 18-minute period 4 on 4 NO goalie 

3rd OVERTIME – (If needed) shootout 6 total shooters (see procedures below), if no winner a coin toss will determine the out come. 

 

SHOOTOUT PROCEDURE: 

If the game remains tied at the end of the overtime periods, the teams will proceed to a shoot out. 

The shootout will begin with a coin flip, called by the home team. The winning team of the coin flip will decide if they will shoot first or second. This decision will carry throughout to all shootout, and sudden death rounds. 

Three different players from each team shall participate in the shootout and they shall proceed in such order as the Coach selects. 

Each team will be given three shots, unless the outcome is determined earlier in the shootout. 

After each team has taken three shots, if the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a “sudden death” format. For a MAXIMUM of 3 shooters. 

One player from each team will shoot per round, until a decisive goal is scored. 

The same or new players can be used for “sudden death” rounds. 

The same player can also be used for each shot by a team in the “sudden death” rounds. 

If still tied after 3 “sudden death” shooters the game will be decided with a coin flip, called by the home team. 

 

OVERTIME PENALTY PROCEDURE: 

Players for 3 on 3 in overtime will be adjusted to reflect the situation in the game, but at no time will a team have fewer then three players on the ice during the overtime period. FOR EXAMPLE, if a team enters the overtime period on a power play, players would be adjusted from 5 on 4 at the end of regulation to 4 on 3 at the start of the overtime. If a minor penalty is assessed during the overtime, the teams will play 4 on 3. If a second minor penalty assessed to the same team during overtime, the teams will play 5 on 3. When the penalty expires the penalized player rejoins play and you pay even until a stoppage in play where you will return to your 3 on 3 format.

 

 

Zero Tolerance Policy for Alcohol 

Teams will have till the end of the 1st period to exit the dressing room. Any teams caught with alcohol anywhere in the arena except in the bar will be fined $500.00.
